That's the question on a lot of people's minds right now...
If you are in a home based business you are blessed. If you're not, look for something that suits you and get ta get'n...Why? We know we cannot trust the stock market, most of our 401ks are now 201ks (don't panic, they'll go back up, then you'll have some decisions to make). We cannot trust in mortages, real estate, mutual funds, jobs (can you say downsize, laid off, whatever), almost everything is being tested right now and failing. But there is something that consistently thrives even in tough times, and that's home based businesses. Most even excel in the worst of economies. Why? Because you know you're not afraid of work, and you know you have to put food on the table, and you have to do it everyday. You're now looking into home based businesses, you remember something, somebody said about making money, about bonuses, about how fast you could do it...etc. You wish you would of started years ago, but you didn't because you had a great stable corporate job. Well I did the same thing, had a great job as a computer analyst for a large Chicago company (two red buildings). Worked there for over 15 years, thought I would retire from there, didn't happen. First they downsized, then made us work longer hours to make up for the people they laid off. Then they downsized again, and yup, you guessed it, I was in that number. Now, like many of you, I wished I would of had something secure working on the side. I've rebounded since then and I'm doing very well. But I could of had a leg up, if I hadn't been so confident in my company, that wasn't my company at all. They got along just fine without me. Now, in my home based business I'm in charge. And with so many people out of work, it's starting to grow faster. Even in this bad economy, I'm seeing success, now that's recession proof...
We see all kinds of people in home based businesses, people like doctors, pilots, lawyers, school teachers, pastors, etc. Why? Because of low overhead, low risk (most home based business go from $100 to a few thousand dollars to get started), and you can do it now, its there when you're ready. How much you can make depends on how much you spend to get started and how hard you're willing to work, not how smart or cute you are. It's not get rich quick, but it is possible to get rich. And, Now with internet marketing, the sky is the limit. So you say, Joy how do I get started, or some of you just got started in a home based business and need some marketing training, internet coaching, some kind of support.
The first thing you have to understand is the market place pays to the person who can solve their problems, ease their pain. In order to do this you must have value, skill, be able to do something they cannot do or cannot do right now. Our wonderful glowing personalities are great, but people very seldom will pay for personality alone. Look at our celebrities, they are not celebrities just because they have a wonderful personality. They are talented in some way, and the one's that are not, we speak negatively about them. Off the top of my head I can think of a few young ladies that started being celebrities with just personality, their family status, and even they are learning how to be of value. So get skilled in your home based business, people will pay you for your skill. You must have people skills as well. I will be blogging with some tips on people skills, on how to be your true self. We have to learn how to value and work with all kinds of people. Your leadership skills should be so awesome, that people will do what ever it takes to work with you. When it comes to your business, what do you need to do today?
- Help others to succeed, and you will inevidibly succeed yourself. If your in your home based business just for the paycheck and not for the people, you will find yourself extremely frustrated.
- Discover what people need, why are they looking for a home based business. Give them what they want, not what you think they want. People are more likely to care about what your doing, once they know you care about them. Ask questions, and answer the main question you already know is in their mind: What's in it for me?
- Remember it's not about the product, it's about you (not just your personality, but your sincerity). Price means nothing when it comes to a good trusting relationship.
- You have to do 4 things well; Reveal (people need to know you're in business), First Contact (what's the plan of action when you meet people), Presentation (give an enthusiastic offering), and Close (help them believe, what you believe).
- From your customer pool, you must be able to sort people (the good "positive people", the bad "difficult people", and the ugly "negative people"). Be able to identify the leaders, and duplicate your success in them. Teach them to teach others. This will produce residual income for years to come. RESIDUAL income will make you money when you've retired. It's an income that, usually, can be willed to others (i.e. children, a surviving spouse, etc.). Start your leaders out properly, most home based businesses already have a tried and proven strategy. All you have to do is work it, and most of all never, ever, ever quit. Will times get hard of course they will, but stay in the game. I'm not advocating the lottery, but even they say you can't win if you don't play.
- Never except excuses from yourself, or from others. We get discouraged some time. Usually, when we listen to people who know nothing about our business "the difficult". Spend most of your time with positive people "the good", you may need to give up some toxic relationships "the ugly", at least until you get your business off the ground (if their family). Most people won't believe until they see you succeeding any way. There is no need to give explanations, your friends don't need one and your enemies won't believe you any way. It's show and tell time, so show and tell...
- Take time to learn the entire presentation system for your business, for your success, and to teach who ever you bring into your business. You are going to have to connect with the new person, validate their fears. Then help them address and over come each one. This simple step will get you paid over and over again. Stay in touch with how you felt the first time you did a presentation, so you can always identify with your new people. Remember what got you over the hump!
Ok, off the soap box...I hope this was of some help to you. Until next time be blessed and highly favored!
